Development Process
Spadez is a next generation Web Development Company
with a team of full-stack web designers and developers boasting of a decade long expertise.
Our Process
Step 1: Discovery
Before we get started, we need to fully understand your project. Do you already have a website or are we starting from scratch? What do you like or not like in website? What are your goals? Who is your target audience? Do you already have a design? A logo? Content? Have you decided on the structure of your content? Do you have a host? We do require access to your hosting account and FTP access in order to provide you the best service. Some hosts allow you set up a technical contact if you prefer. If you need some guidance on where to start thinking about your project, we have a discovery form that can help.
Step 2: Defining Responsibilities
Who is responsible for what? Who is our main contact? Having one main decision-maker designated to speak with us simplifies your project’s website creation process. Who will provide the site content and the design? Will you add site content yourself, or do you prefer we do that for you? If you’re providing files, we need to be sure we have access to everything we need in a timely manner.
Step 3: Estimating your project
Respecting your budget is important to us. A clear estimate is an important aspect of that, so expectations are clearly defined. We provide you with an estimate for your project, and we strive to remain as on-target as possible. We establish clear check-in points with you and discuss the desired timeline. We work with you to decide which site features are essential and which might be better as future refinements
Step 4: Project Build
Our team has years of experience building websites at a variety of scales, from brochure sites with a handful of pages to large e-commerce sites with hundreds of products and lots of custom functionality. Regardless of the scope and complexity of your project, we have procedures in place to ensure that each stage of the build process proceeds smoothly. We always begin with thoughtful design of the site’s information architecture to ensure that your site has a strong foundation. We then build out the design and functionality that makes the site uniquely yours. Finally, we make sure that your site is optimized for performance and security. We involve you in each stage of this process and iterate as necessary to ensure that we’re always on the same page.
Step 5: The Launch!
This is certainly the most exciting phase, as you see your project become public. We can do a “soft launch” without much fanfare, or a “hard launch” including social media promotion and any marketing you have planned, based on your intentions for the site. Before we launch your website, we also do a multi-team member cross-browser, cross-device check to do any tweaking required to make your site look its best on any medium.
Step 6: Ongoing Services
Your site’s launch is not the end. Your website is an evolving entity that represents you and your organization. As your organization changes, your website needs to keep up. New information on your website helps keep your SEO rankings higher. Once your site has been built, we are happy to provide ongoing maintenance, content, and security updates. Your website must remain secure to keep your visitors safe, and we have steps in place to help you with that on a regular basis. As time goes by, if you realize you’d like to add another feature to your site, we are always available to help you modify your site to best fit your current needs.
Our Principles
Responsiveness
We respond to emails in a timely manner. As a stream of emails interrupts the design process and makes that process less efficient, team members may set a designated time to respond to emails, but they will read and respond to you. We are happy to speak with you on the phone about your project at a scheduled time.
Clear Communication
We try to communicate as clearly as possible with you, and we ask that you do the same. Including page titles, links, or images to indicate which page we are talking about is one of the simple ways we do that. We do our best to avoid jargon. Our goal is for you to feel heard and understood, and we strive to be clear in all of our communication with you.
Continuity
If a team member is out for any reason and is unable to contact you, another team member will be available to assist you with any needs that may arise during that time. We find the process to be smoother if you have one main contact on our team, but we like to have more than one team member familiar with your project for project continuity.
Exceeding Expectations
Our goal is to provide you with a website that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations. We want to help you get your message out to the world. In doing that, we also want to be wise stewards of your time and your budget. We find that clear expectations and communication are key
